About

Kabu Homestead is a social business located in Niyodogawa Town, Kochi, Japan. We operate from Yamachagoya, a unique community space situated on the grounds of a former school.
We aim to promote self-sufficiency and regeneration in Japan through activities such as building a regenerative garden, making biologically-active compost, and practicing homesteading. To support our activities, we offer camping services: tent rentals, shower facility, and meals.
About
Bobby Okinaka
Originally from Los Angeles, I traded the bustle of Tokyo for the serenity of Kochi Prefecture in 2021, joining the Chiiki Okoshi Kyoryokutai rural revitalization program. After finishing my 3-year commitment, I decided to stay and start a social business to help revive my local community.

I am not professionally trained in agriculture or soil science. I am self-taught and still learning. I follow the mantra, Feed the soil, not the plant.
